The course Danish Forum for Microfinance are pleased to inform you, that we have invited none less than Mr. Dayal Chandra Paul from Bangladesh as the main trainer on this course. He has more than 20 years of experience pioneering, developing and directing the SUPOTH programme which is well known as a significant example of the widely spread Asian integrated approach to SLAs (also called Self Help Group movement). This approach combines savings and loans with social empowerment, advocacy and organizational capacity development. Dayal is an experienced trainer and will spend the larger part of the 3 days introducing participants to the content, planning and implementation of the Asian SLA model focusing on civil society strengthening. A guide on the theme of SLA’s as a tool for civil society strengthening has been developed specifically for this training by Danish Forum for Microfinance and Danish Mission Council Development Department. The author of the guide is anthropologist Mrs. Kristine Kaaber Pors who has authored and trained extensively in the area of civil society development. Kristine will give an introduction to the attributes of SLA’s and how they contribute to the capacity building of civil society. The Guide also has cases from Care Danmark, Caritas Danmark and the Baptist Union in Denmark which will also be presented before the final perspectives, challenges and lessons learned for the future will be discussed. The course will be highly interactive and practice oriented packed with role plays, multimedia presentations, groups works, lectures and case studies.
